It is one of the mysteries of love and life why some men just cannot keep it in their trousers.But according to a psychiatrist, you might want to blame the nanny for your cheating chap.
In his book The Unsolicited Gift, Dr Dennis Friedman suggests that the use of a nanny to fill the void where mum should be leaves men with double standards when it comes to the opposite sex.
It seems that having had two women in his life early on a nanny's boy continues to assume that one woman is simply not enough, even into adulthood.
Dr Friedman, 85, explains to The Telegraph: "It introduces him to the concept of The Other Woman.
"It creates a division in his mind between the woman he knows to be his natural mother and the woman with whom he has real hands-on relationship: the woman who bathes him and takes him to the park, and with whom he feels completely at one."
And the girls are no strangers to filling the nanny void either though Dr Friedman claims that it is often filled with drink, drugs, sex or money instead.
So if you are hoping your son will grow up into an honourable young man, Dr Friedman suggests doing without a nanny or au pair until after his first birthday.
